Replacement Roof

If you already think you need a new roof, give us a call for a free phone consultation to discuss the project. First, we discuss the problems you are having with your roof. We will then have one of our staff to inspect your roof. We will then provide you with recommendations for either and/or repair or replacement along with estimated costs. If you want a complete replacement, we have a computer-generated drawing created with all measurements and then calculate the quantities and costs for several roof types. We will discuss the options available, the pros and cons, and the difference in the pricing. Additionally, we will provide an estimated start date, length of the project, and how the work will be performed. You may pick the color/grade of shingle from our roofing guide page.

The price for your roof will depend on factors like the size of your roof and the materials you select, but our price quote will be clear, detailed, and easy to understand. All roofing quotes are free of charge. 

Not sure if you need a new roof? A simple patch job may, in fact, be perfectly sufficient. We will provide honest advice on the roof repair needed. Replacing a roof is a necessary investment and a big one. The Fortified Roof Program was relaunched this year. If you own a home in the Outer Banks and plan on replacing your home's roof, you may be eligible to receive up to $6,000 from your homeowner's insurance company!

Eligible policyholders can apply for a grant up to $6,000 to go toward the installation of a FORTIFIED Roof. A limited number of grants are available and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. 

NCIUA announced a separate program in coastal areas of North Carolina in 2022. This program, Strengthen Your Coastal Roof, is accepting applications during the third quarter. Announcements are sent to eligible policyholders prior to the program launch.

What is a Fortified Roof?

A Fortified Roof is designed to withstand hurricane winds and reduce water's potential for entering the home by 90%. The sealed deck system and the roof-mounted vents prevent water intrusion. The roof decking is re-nailed with ring shank nails to double the roof's strength.

In 2020 the Eligibility Requirements were as follows, these may have changed:

• Must have a home in the Outer Banks or on the Barrier Islands (ratings 110 and 120)
• Be an active-status NCIUA policyholder with coverage effective on or before June 1, 2020
• Have an eligible Homeowners or Homeowners Wind policy
• Note: Some type of properties such as Townhouses and Condos were ineligible

In 2022, a limited number of grants were awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis until the available funds are expended or until December 31, 2022 whichever was first. This program is becoming very popular, so policyholders are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to reserve a grant.

INSTALLATION PROCESS

If a roof replacement is required, our professional roofing installers use the best practices and follow comprehensive procedures to ensure your satisfaction. Our crews leave your property pristine prior to departure. As part of your roofing job, we will do the following:

• Protect landscaping, decks, heat pumps, air conditioner compressors, and other exterior features.
• Inspect and replace damaged roof decking and flashing.
• Install ice and water shield, new underlayment, new J-Style drip edges, and vent pipe boots.
• Lay new shingles, ventilation, and ridge caps shingles per the manufacturer’s specifications.
• Use magnets to remove nails found around the home.
• Remove and discard old material.
